Because of Camp...Brian's Story

Camp is the one place I can step out of my shell, dress how I want, and be the funny man that I truly am.

I have been coming to Camp Talooli for the past 8 years. Camp has changed me in ways I honestly couldn’t have imagined. Camp is a place where I feel most comfortable in the world, because I know I won’t be judged. It is because of camp that I feel more outgoing in everything that I do.

Camp has also given me additional opportunities in life. Just recently I attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, thanks to a special connection made for me by Talooli’s Program Director, Jeff Peneston. Before going to Space Camp, a lot of people thought that I would be the quiet, shy one, because I wasn’t going to know anyone. Well, not only did I make friends from all over the world, but I was the “talk of camp.” Why, you ask? It’s because of Camp Talooli.

It has become, not necessarily easier for me to talk to people, but easier to put myself out there and not be afraid of what others think. In school I am still incredibly self-conscious about everything. Camp is the one place I can step out of my shell, dress how I want, and be the funny man that I truly am. I have been coming to camp for 8 years and will be for many more to come.
