Meet the Staff 2016!

Camp Talooli has one of the greatest summer staffs around. With nearly 80% of our staff returning each year, our staff members are incredibly skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic about sharing their love of summer camp with Talooli campers. This is a way for us to share just how special each of our counselors, program staff, and leaders are.

Name:

Brian Lawler

 Position at Camp this summer:

Counselor

How many years have you been coming to Camp Talooli?

12 years! Brian was a Talooli camper and CIT before he started working as a day and overnight counselor.

What is the funniest thing a camper has ever said to you?

So many funny things have been said to me over the years, it's hard to remember them all, but the one I remember best is when a camper called me Shaggy (from Scooby-Doo), because of how long and messy my hair was.

What is your favorite spot at Camp Talooli?

My favorite spot at Camp is the gazebo, Beaver's Rest. It's quiet and peaceful there and it's a great spot to look out over the lake. It's a nice place to just go and relax and think about life.

What type of career are you currently pursuing?

I am studying to become a sports broadcaster. My back-up plan is to try and become a comedian.

Of all the foods Jeff has made during Tuesday Campfire Cooking, what did you like best?

My favorite food that Jeff has cooked are cinnamon apples. They are wrapped in tinfoil and cooked over the campfire. They're finger-lickin' good!

What are you most looking forward to about this summer?

I am looking forward to reconnecting with my fellow staff members and giving campers an unforgettable camp experience.

What do your friends/family just not understand about your love of Camp Talooli?

My friends don't understand why I willingly choose to go out into the woods and work with kids all summer. I do it because Camp has become home to me and I enjoy what I do. Most of my friends have never been to a true summer camp like Talooli and they don't understand the joy being at Camp can bring to both campers and staff.

What is your favorite part about working on staff at Camp Talooli?

My favorite part of being on staff is becoming closer with everyone around you as the summer goes on.
