Meet the Staff 2017 - Missy
Meet the Staff 2017!
Camp Talooli has one of the greatest summer staffs around. With nearly 75% of our staff returning each year, our staff members are incredibly skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic about sharing their love of summer camp with Talooli campers. This is a way for us to share just how special each of our counselors, program staff, and leaders are.
Position at Camp this summer:
How many years have you been coming to Camp Talooli?
10 years! Missy was a Talooli camper and CIT before she started working as a camp counselor.
What is the funniest thing a camper has ever said to you?
"Gizmo feels like my hair when I put conditioner in it" (Gizmo is one of our camp rabbits)
If you could live in another part of the world for a year, where would you go?
I would go somewhere that has a different culture than we have in New York. Somewhere like Argentina, Japan, or even France.
What is your favorite Disney movie?
Mulan. Her determination and dedication to her family and will to change are inspiring.
What type of career are you planning to pursue?
I'm currently working as a game developer and concept artist for an upcoming game from Glass Knuckle Games, so a career in visual arts in entertainment is what I am pursuing.
What is your favorite theme week at Camp?
My first week at camp as a camper was Hook and Pan week, so that always holds a special place in my heart. But, Color Me Camp last year was extremely memorable and fun.
What are you most looking forward to about this summer?
Making more memories with campers, and participating more in the theme weeks.
What do our friends/family just not understand about your love of Camp Talooli?
They don't get why I go back. They don't understand the bond the staff makes with each other, and how Talooli is a place youll never be able to forget. The magic of being a kid in summer camp is brought back, and the only thing you have to worry about is when your next activity is, and when you'll change your kids for swimming.
What are the most important skills you have learned while working at Camp Talooli?
The most important skills that I have learned working at a summer camp is that you should always put others first, but you'll never make everyone happy. Regardless, you can make the best out of a situation that's not ideal. Talooli is something that gives you lessons that you keep with you forever, and never forget.
