The Basics of Poker

The game of poker is played with up to seven players, but the optimal number is six or eight. The pot is the total of all the bets placed by all players in a given deal. In this game, the highest hand wins the pot. If the player with the highest hand also makes a bet that no other player calls, then the hand will win the pot.
